Depression and Mood/Anxiety Disorders

  • Overly anxious, nervous or scared?
  • Experiencing extreme mood changes?
  • Separation anxiety?
  • Noticing any specific phobias or fears?

Some children and adults suffer from extreme moods that interfere with daily functioning. Mood disorders include depression, dysthymia (a mild but long-lasting depression), and bipolar disorder (often called manic-depression).

Anxiety disorders occur when a person feels overly anxious, nervous or scared. These can occur in response to certain situations (going to school, for example) or they can seem to appear out of the blue. This includes disorders such as specific phobias, separation anxiety, over-anxious mania and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
